STABBING SUSPECT CAPTURED SOUTH OF HOLTON
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a report that a stabbing victim was being treated at the Holton Community Hospital in Holton shortly before 11 pm Monday night. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and the Holton Police Department responded to the hospital where a 26-year-old male was being treated for multiple stab wounds. The victim was transported to a Topeka Hospital and was in critical condition with life-threatening wounds.
Holton Police Officers and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and Investigators processed the crime scene located at 123 New York Street in Holton. Authorities began attempting to locate Austin Lee Whitebird 22, who is believed to be the suspect in the incident who fled the scene.
Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputies apprehended Whitebird Tuesday evening south of Holton where he was thought to be fleeing the area. Whitebird was arrested and is being booked into the Jackson County Jail for attempted voluntary manslaughter. Bond is pending at this time.
