The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has had the K-9 Program for over 20 years. The purpose of the program is to aid in the apprehension of narco-traffickers who transport illegal narcotics into Jackson County. The K-9 Program also assists with schools within Jackson County in an effort to keep our schools drug free. Two Jackson County Deputies are assigned to the K-9 Unit. Deputy John T. Paz and his Belgian Malinois partner, Kreto and Sgt. Travis Spiker and his Belgian Malinois, Ike. These deputies are committed in keeping illegal narcotics out of the hands of our children and keeping our community safe. In 2019, Sgt. Travis DeBarge’s K-9 partner, Benny passed away from an immediate illness. Benny was a large beautiful German Shepherd. Since Benny’s passing Sgt. DeBarge stepped out of the K-9 program and Deputy Paz took his place.
