DEPUTY SHERIFF  (Deputies Needed)

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking Kansas certified law enforcement applicants that have the desire to work as a deputy sheriff in a proactive law enforcement agency.  Jackson County is intersected by US Hwy 75, and contains the largest Tribal casino with two more casinos on our northern border.  Jackson County borders the northern edge of Topeka, which presents plenty of work, and opportunity for the proactive deputy, while at the same time offers the best of rural life.

TYPE:  Full Time

SALARY:  Starting pay is $25.30 per hour without previous experience starting January 2024. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).  Applicants must be able to pass applicant testing, background investigation, polygraph, psychological exam and drug screening. Must be open to scheduling flexibility (must have the ability to work any shift, weekends and holidays) must possess a Kansas Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record at the time of appointment.  Applicants must be of good moral character with no felony, or domestic battery convictions

CORRECTIONS OFFICER 

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is currently accepting applications for a full-time corrections officer. Applicants must be a minimum of 21 years of age and able to work various shifts including holidays and weekends. Applicants must also have a high school diploma or G.E.D., and a valid driver’s license. PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCHER 

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is currently seeking applicants that have the desire to work as a public safety dispatcher. The following are requirements: Must have a High School Diploma or Equivalent (GED).  Must be able to pass the applicant testing, background investigation, psychological exam and drug screening. Must be open to scheduling flexibility (must have the ability to work any shift, weekends and holidays)must be able to accurately type at least 30 wpm, multi-task and have excellent customer service, which are fundamental to employment.  Previous public safety dispatching experience is preferred, but not required. Successful applicants will become certified in Emergency Medical Dispatching and NCIC within 6 months of hire and maintain all necessary certifications as required. Public safety dispatcher duties include, but are not limited to, answering 9-1-1 telephones, transmitting vital information to emergency personnel via the radio, relaying information via Computer-Aided Dispatch, and answering administrative lines serving the Law Enforcement/EMS/Fire personnel.
