Vehicle Inspections
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office provides VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) inspections as a convenience for our citizens. VIN inspections are needed when a vehicle is purchased with an out of state title. The State of Kansas will not issue a title for a vehicle with an out of state title without a VIN inspection.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office does not provide inspections for non-highway titles, non-branded titles, salvage or previous salvage titles. For these situations, you will be referred to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
You will need the following in order to have your vehicle inspected:
- The title for your vehicle.
- Driver’s license.
- Vehicle (Must be physically inspected)
- $20.00 cash
