Topeka man arrested with methamphetamine
JACKSON COUNTY, Kan. (JASO) – Sheriff Tim Morse reports that a Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a Ford Fusion passenger car on 150th Road near O. Road around 7:30 P.M. for a traffic infraction on April 17, 2024. A Jackson County Sheriff’s K-9 alerted to the presence of illegal drug contraband inside the vehicle. Deputies seized methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The driver, Thomas Carl Schmitt, 54, of Topeka, was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and no insurance. Schmitt also had an outstanding warrant for probation violation.
