The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an injury accident near 178th Road and southbound US Hwy 75 around 4 pm Monday afternoon. A 2001 Kia Sephia driven by Shea Deegen, 19, of Denison, had been headed southbound on US Hwy 75 where it left the west side of the highway near 178th Road. The vehicle continued southwest striking a KDOT fence and rolling multiple times before landing over 100 yards west of the highway and striking a tree. The following agencies responded and assisted with incident: The PBPN Police, Fire and EMS, Jackson County EMS, Mayetta Fire Department, Kansas Highway Patrol and the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. Deegen, who was the vehicle’s only occupant was transported by Jackson County EMS to a Topeka hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The accident remains under investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
