Burglary Suspects Captured

Two Lawrence residents were arrested this afternoon by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office received a report of a possible burglary to an abandoned house in the 17000 block of 190th Road, just southwest of Denison around 4:00 p.m. this afternoon. A neighbor reported he confronted the suspects, who then dropped items allegedly taken from the house and fled in a light blue mini-van.

Deputies and Detectives searched the area for the van. The van and the two suspects were located and stopped by deputies and detectives just north of the Shawnee County near 102nd Road and US Hwy 75 in Jackson County. Arrested were 29-year-old Wake Keziah Mitchell of Lawrence and 30-year-old Charlotte Leann Pemberton of Lawrence. Mitchell was booked into the Jackson County Jail for burglary, and attempted theft, Pemberton was booked for conspiracy to commit burglary. Bond was set at $25,000 on both.
