Meriden man jailed on multiple drug charges

 JACKSON COUNTY, Kan. (JASO) – Sheriff Tim Morse reports that on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at 12:21 P.M., a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Sheriff conducted a traffic stop on U.S. Hwy 75 in southern Jackson County on a 2000 Chevy S-10 pickup truck. The driver was suspected of driving without a valid driver’s license. During the course of the vehicle stop, a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office K-9 indicated the presence of drugs and or narcotics within the vehicle. A search was done and revealed items of drug contraband inside the vehicle.

The driver, David Douglas Friend, 52, of Meriden, Kansas, was arrested for distribution of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, possession of a narcotic, possession of drug paraphernalia, and driving with no valid license. Friend was booked into the Jackson County Jail.
