SKID LOADER STOLEN FROM AREA BUSINESS

JACKSON COUNTY, Kan. (JASO) – Sheriff Tim Morse reports a Topeka man was arrested Thursday in connection to a theft of a Volvo skid-steer loader that was taken from a Holton business in the early morning hours of July 21st.  The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received the report at 5:45 A.M. the same day. Deputies and detectives started their investigation into the theft, and by that evening the skid-steer loader was recovered in Jefferson County off of Butler Road near the community of Rock Creek.  The skid-steer was hidden in a wooded remote part of the property.  Also recovered, was a Doolittle trailer that was used in the theft.  The trailer was reported stolen out of Holt County, Missouri. On Thursday, deputies arrested suspect, Brian Ray Stevenson, 50, of Topeka on a Jackson County District Court warrant for felony theft and possession of methamphetamine. The matter remains under investigation and further arrests are anticipated. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Kansas Highway Patrol and the Topeka Police Department assisted with the case.
