One person dead following pursuit

 JACKSON COUNTY, Kan. (JASO)-Sheriff Tim Morse reports that the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was advised that a Holton Police officer was in a vehicle pursuit with a Dodge Avenger at approximately 10:50 p.m. Thursday night in Holton. The driver of the Dodge passenger car failed to stop for the officer and continued northbound out of the City of Holton on US Hwy 75. The vehicle then headed eastbound on 254th Road and then north on W. Road. Jackson County deputies assisted with the pursuit. The suspect vehicle then headed westbound on 286th Road and failed to stop at US Hwy 75 striking a southbound Jeep Renegade. Both vehicles left the roadway, with the suspect vehicle landing on its side. Jackson County EMS, PBPN EMS, Holton Fire and Netawaka Fire responded to the scene. Both occupants of the Jeep were triaged code green and transported to a Topeka hospital. Two occupants of the Dodge passenger car were triaged code yellow and transported to a Topeka hospital. A third occupant of the Dodge passenger was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the deceased victim is not being released until the notification of family. Sheriff Morse requested the Kansas Highway Patrol to investigate the accident and incident. Any further inquiries are asked to be directed to the KHP. At 3:15 a.m. a portion of Hwy 75 remains closed with traffic being detoured north of Holton.
