Two arrested on theft and meth charges
JACKSON COUNTY, Kan. (JASO)-Sheriff Tim Morse reports two individuals were arrested on theft and drug charges following a traffic stop on Friday afternoon. The Sheriff’s Office received a report that a theft suspect from the day before was inside the Holton Walmart. Deputies responded to the store and after the suspects left the store, a Jackson County deputy stopped the suspect’s vehicle just south of Banner on US 75 Hwy. Deputies located a number of items believed to be stolen, including a large quantity of electronic products and clothing. Deputies also located items to be drug contraband. The driver, Shane Christopher Heslet, 31, of Topeka was arrested for theft, possession of stolen property, trespassing, possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The passenger, Andrew Liam Meyer, 25, of Topeka was arrested for theft, possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. Heslet and Myer were both booked into the Jackson County Jail. The stolen property was returned to the store.
