Mayetta man arrested following pursuit
A Jackson County Sheriff’s deputy observed a red 2012 Honda Civic travelling southbound on W. Road from 174th Road shortly before 1:30 am this morning. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle which allegedly eluded the deputy. A pursuit ensued, and the vehicle struck a stop sign. The deputy observed the bumper from the car lying in the roadway. The vehicle stopped near 158th and T. Road where the rear seat passenger allegedly fled on foot. The driver was placed under arrest. The driver was identified as Skylar Joe Robert Mechtley, 18, of Mayetta. Mechtley was arrested and transported to the Jackson County Jail where he was charged with fleeing and eluding a law enforcement officer, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.
