TWO IN CUSTODY FOLLOWING MAYETTA THEFT
JACKSON COUNTY, Kan. (JASO) – Sheriff Tim Morse reports two people are in custody following a Wednesday afternoon theft in Mayetta. On Wednesday, at approximately 3 p.m., the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was called in reference to a theft at the Dollar General Store in Mayetta. It was reported that two individuals involved in the incident allegedly stole a scanner, printer and cell phone from an ice vendor at the store. The two headed south on U.S. Hwy 75 on a black motorcycle. The pair allegedly caused a disturbance at the Holton Walmart earlier in the day. The Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office and Sheriff Brian Hill assisted with the search for the pair. Both subjects were located approximately 30 miles south of Topeka on the Kansas Turnpike by the Kansas Highway Patrol. The two were arrested and transported to the Jackson County Jail. The two suspects were identified as Jason Darrell Mathes, 47, of Kyle, Texas and Stephani Elyse Rodriquez, 34, of Austin, Texas.
