LOCAL VOLUNTEER ARRESTED ON ARSON CHARGES

A former Jackson County volunteer firefighter was arrested Wednesday evening by Jackson County Sheriff’s Investigators. Jacob Kenneth Grant, 27, of Delia was arrested following an investigation conducted by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation focused on numerous suspected arson grass fires that occurred from February 28th, 2018 to March 20, 2018 in southwestern Jackson County. Grant is suspected of setting these fires, who then responded to many of the fires with the Delia Fire Department. Grant is currently being held in the Jackson County Jail on 13 counts of arson. Bond on Grant is pending at this time.
