JACKSON COUNTY, Kan. (JASO) – Sheriff Tim Morse reports that on Sunday, May 14, 2023, shortly after 4:30 P.M., a 72-year-old Lawrence woman was arrested on drug charges. A Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy at the time of the encounter was already investigating a traffic stop near 158th Road on U.S. Hwy 75, when a vehicle pulled up behind the traffic stop. The deputy went to see what the occupants needed. The encounter led to the discovery of alleged illegal drug contraband in the possession of the passenger of the vehicle. The passenger, Leandara Gutierrez, of Lawrence was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Jail for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a hallucinogenic drug and drug paraphernalia.
