Scammer posing as deputy sheriff

JACKSON COUNTY, Kan. (JASO) – Sheriff Tim Morse reports that the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has received a number of reports today of a scam that is circulating.  The scammer calls and identifies themselves as a Jackson County Sheriff’s Deputy and states that the person called has a warrant. The scammer attempts to resolve the warrant by payment over the phone. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office will not contact and resolve warrants in this manner.  If you receive a call of this type, do not give any personal or banking information and contact law enforcement.
