FATALITY ACCIDENT NORTH OF HOLTON
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call at approximately 3:40 pm reporting an injury accident near 286th and U.S. Hwy 75 north of Holton. The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Jackson County EMS, Holton Fire Department, Netawaka, Whiting and Hoyt Fire Departments were dispatched to the scene. The accident involved a semi-tractor and trailer and a single passenger car. Rescue units extricated the driver from the 2005 Toyota Corolla passenger car. The driver was transported to Stormont Vail Hospital in Topeka where he where he later died.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, KHP and K-DOT closed the highway north of Holton to K-9 Hwy during the investigation. US Hwy 75 was reopened around 10:30 pm.
The Netawaka Fire Department, Holton Police Department also assisted with traffic control.
