Sheriff’s Office participates in 4/20 traffic campaign

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office participated in the regional 4/20 traffic campaign last weekend. The campaign’s goal is to reduce impaired drivers from the roadways. During this period law enforcement enforced a “No Refusal Weekend” which suspected impaired drivers who refuse a breath test are subject to blood testing by court order. It is the norm in Jackson County when deputies have probable cause that a driver is impaired and refuses testing, they will seek a search warrant to obtain a sample of the driver’s blood. During the campaign last weekend deputies worked 2 vehicle crashes and made 9 arrests. Two arrests were DUIs for impaired driving, and one search warrant for blood was obtained when the driver refused to submit to testing. 3 drug arrests were made and 4 additional arrests were made and 6 citations were issued.
