Three car injury accident in western Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY, Kan. (JASO)-Sheriff Tim Morse reports that two were transported to area hospitals following a three car injury accident in western Jackson County Monday evening. Shortly after 5 pm, the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a three-car injury accident east of B. Road on K-16 Hwy near Buck’s Grove in rural Havensville. An eastbound 1999 Mercury Villager had been eastbound on K-16 and crossed the center line colliding with a westbound 2011 Dodge Ram 2500. The driver and only occupant of the Villager, Jonathan Jacob Smith of, 38, of Cassvile, Missouri, was flown to a Topeka Hospital with critical injuries. The driver of the Dodge pickup, James Moore, 74, of Effingham, was taken to a Topeka hospital with debilitating injuries. Three other occupants of the Dodge refused transport. A third vehicle, a 2007 Ford Fusion, was also involved in the collision. Both the driver, Anthony Martin Goforth, 26, of Onaga and his passenger were uninjured. The accident remains under investigation.
